The eight questions

1
Who wrote it?
Check for conflicts of interest: where do the authors work, and who else do they work for?
2
Who sponsored the research?
Look at the acknowledgments and the funding note.
3
Where was it published?
The politics of funding: who owns or pays for the journal, press or outlet?
4
What kind of research was done?
Interviews, fieldwork, surveys, archives, data analysis, or a review of other texts?
5
Did the researchers or writers use AI? If so, how? Was it necessary?
Look for an AI or LLM disclosure. If there is none, say so.
6
Are they showing applicable test cases?
If relevant: is anything shown working, measured, somewhere named?
7
Other comments?
Anything else you noticed.
